North Sacramento Hit and Run Bicycle Crash Ends Tragically

On May 5, 2018, a cyclist was involved in an accident with a vehicle in North Sacramento. The crash occurred on Arden Way. There were numerous news reports about the accident. Initially, some reports thought a minor or a child may have been involved. Later, The Sacramento Bee would report that the cyclist was a 31yr old man who was allegedly hit by a car traveling west ,and that the driver fled the scene but would later call police. At the moment, we only know that the driver left the scene of the crash and that the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hit and Runs in California

Thankfully, we do not have nearly the number of hit and runs in Sacramento that we have in LA. Everyone knows that if you hit someone, you need to stop and render aid. Leaving the scene of a fatal accident is a felony and often results in years behind bars in a state prison. At the moment, we’re not sure if this driver has been or will be charged.

Wrongful death

Wrongful death actions are sometimes brought by family members after a fatal bicycle accident. Wrongful death lawsuits are often brought when the carelessness and negligence of somebody else causes the death of a person. The survivors and the personal representative of the decedent’s estate are allowed to bring a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for damages suffered as a result of the untimely death of the decedent.
