Fresno DUI Bicycle Accident Ends Tragically

A man was pulled over this weekend in Fresno California after police noticed his vehicle driving with no tire. According to ABC 30, police arrested the man with Felony Hit and Run, Felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Police believe this man fled the scene after hitting a bicyclist from behind.

Tragically, the bicyclist died. The fatal bicycle accident occurred near Weber and Princeton Avenues.

DUI is one of the most common reasons people leave the scene of an accident. Of course, there is never a good reason to not stop and try to help the person that you hit, especially a bicyclist who shares the road with motor vehicles.

Many of the motorists involved with our bicycle accident clients state that “they didn’t see the cyclist”. Driving under the influence impairs driver’s vision and reaction times and they are more likely to not notice a cyclist than someone who was not impaired.
