Foster City Hit and Run Bicycle Accident – DUI Driver Arrested

On Monday, April 16, 2018, a cyclist was hit from behind in Foster City, California. The driver was arrested after turning himself in to police about 25 minutes later.

According to The Daily Journal, the cyclist was hit, then the driver drove away without stopping. The cyclist suffered lacerations and dental injuries. Dental injuries sustained in bicycle accidents frequently occur when a cyclist is thrown forward after being rear-ended on a bicycle.

At the police station, the driver allegedly registered .15 BAC on a breathalyzer and has been charged with felony driving under the influence and causing injury and felony hit-and-run. Unfortunately, many drivers who are driving while intoxicated flee the scene after causing a serious injury.

The cyclist is currently being treated at Stanford Medical Center which has a Level 1 Trauma Center.
