Bike Theft

Because of their value, ease of transport, and ease of resale, bicycles are popular targets for theft.   Bicycle theft can be the broken down into two primary categories, theft of bicycles (theft of the bicycle frame and/or component parts) and theft from bicycles (theft of accessories such as lights, baskets, and data recorders).

In order to combat bicycle theft you should never leave your bicycle unlocked.  You should also record your bicycle’s serial number and file a police report if your bicycle is stolen.  Police recover many stolen bicycles that are never returned to the owner because the owner does not know the serial number.
